Overview
Convolver by Kilohearts is an audio effect plugin based on impulse response (IR) convolution technology. It primarily enables realistic reverb effects by applying the acoustic characteristics of real spaces to any sound. Typical use includes recreating the sound of environments like churches or bathrooms by convolving audio with impulse responses recorded there.
Besides reverb, Convolver can load arbitrary audio samples as IRs to simulate a variety of effects such as guitar amp cabinets, distinctive filters, or creative delays. The plugin is provided with a large factory library of over 300 impulse responses for diverse unique effects.
Features
- Impulse response convolution with drag-and-drop IR loading.
- Includes 300+ factory impulse responses spanning reverbs, filters, and other effects.
- Parameters for trimming the IR start and end, fading in/out, stretching (affecting length and pitch), and reversing the IR.
- Delay control for pre-delay time adjustable in milliseconds or relative to song tempo.
- Tone control to adjust brightness of the processed sound.
- Feedback to route output back into the convolution engine for complex effects.
- Mix control for dry/wet blending.
