Summary
GSnap is a free autotune VST plugin designed for pitch correction of monophonic audio signals, primarily vocals, that allows both subtle tuning adjustments and pronounced robotic effects.
Features
- Pitch correction with two modes: fixed scale snapping and real-time MIDI control.
- Detection controls for tuning pitch detection efficiency and accuracy, including adjustable minimum and maximum frequency, gate, and speed settings.
- Correction controls with selectable snap notes via piano keyboard, adjustable threshold and amount of pitch correction, as well as attack and release times for the applied correction.
- MIDI controls for setting maximum pitch bend, vibrato range and speed when using MIDI mode.
- Calibration option to adjust tuning reference frequency (default A=440 Hz).
- Visual pitch display showing the original and tuned pitch, aiding user adjustments.
Usage Notes
GSnap works best with simple melodic input such as vocals; complex material may require extensive MIDI programming. It can create effects from slight pitch correction to the well-known "robot voice". Users can route MIDI keyboards to perform pitch correction live or generate harmony effects by duplicating vocal tracks. Switching between fixed and MIDI mode can be automated for flexible pitch correction.
