Overview
TOMS X3M is a contemporary virtual percussion instrument library focusing on toms, surdos, field drums, and related percussion instruments. Created by George Strezov and powered by Native Instruments Kontakt Player, it offers a variety of solo and ensemble percussion samples designed for epic, cinematic sound production.
Features
- Includes a wide range of percussion instruments: traditional toms, surdos, field drums, solo drums (including brushed), and various ensemble sizes (4- and 8-person ensembles).
- Recorded with attention to depth and color to provide a rich, organic sound.
- Each instrument features 7 dynamic layers controlled by velocity and up to 7 round robins for natural variation.
- Powered by the proprietary X3M Percussion Engine enabling extensive articulation mapping where multiple articulations can be combined in a single keyboard zone for enhanced playability.
- X3M Engine includes features like Round Robin Selection and Stereo Spread control for each microphone position.
- Optimized memory management by purging unused samples until loaded into zones, preserving RAM resources.
- Recorded in the Sofia Session Studio with high production standards.
Usage and Compatibility
The library runs within Native Instruments' free Kontakt Player (v6.7.1 or higher) or the full Kontakt version, making it accessible without requiring the full paid Kontakt software. It requires approximately 16 GB of free storage space for samples and archive files, and at least 2 GB of RAM.
Included Articulations and Ensembles
Extensive articulations include multiple solo toms (from 8" to 20"), surdos, field drums, mallets, brushes, and mixed ensembles. Two large ensembles are featured: an 8-person and a 4-person ensemble with unique instrument combinations.
Documentation and Support
A product manual is available as a PDF on the product page. Installation instructions and additional support resources are provided on the developer’s website.
