Summary
Droplets is a physics-based music sequencer plugin that generates complex musical patterns by simulating droplets falling and interacting with bars. Users can modify these physical interactions to create unique sequences and sounds.
Features
- Physics simulation where droplets fall at musical intervals and bounce to trigger notes
- Adjustable "bars" for pitch control via length and "drippers" that emit droplets at configurable intervals
- Quantization options allowing notes to snap to 16th or 12th note grids
- Tempo changes affect simulation speed, maintaining pattern consistency
- Scale selection with presets or user-created scales by choosing root note and scale degrees
- Wind and gravity controls to manipulate droplet movement and evolve patterns
- Probability control introduces random variation to droplet emission
- Preset saving and sharing for layouts and parameter settings
- Built-in synthesizer engine supporting FM, sampling, additive and subtractive synthesis, with multiple effects and modulation options
- MIDI output capability to control external instruments or plugins
- MIDI learn functionality for controller mapping
- Compatibility as standalone or as VST3 and AU plugins on Mac and Windows
- Separate standard and MIDI-only versions available
System Requirements
- MacOS 10.10+, Intel Core i5 or Apple Silicon, 4GB RAM, OpenGL 3.2 GPU
- Windows 7+, Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM, OpenGL 3.2 GPU
- Internet connection needed for license activation
Compatibility Notes
Ableton Live users cannot load MIDI-only versions; they should use the standard VST version and disable the internal synth engine to send MIDI only. The AU standard version does not support MIDI sending.
Usage Scenarios
Droplets is suited for musicians and producers interested in generative music, experimental sequencing, or innovative MIDI pattern creation using physical models combined with integrated synthesis or MIDI control of other instruments.
