Grooves From Mars is a comprehensive collection of 478 MIDI groove templates created from 27 legendary drum machines. These templates enable producers to replicate the unique feel and groove characteristics of each sequencer in their digital audio workstations (DAWs).

Unique Features

Every drum machine has its distinct swing, shuffle, stutter, and groove, whether analog or digital. Grooves From Mars captures these unique rhythmic nuances precisely, from the tight timing of MPC60 to the early 80s Prince feel of the LM1, among others.

Creation Process

• Each drum machine was synced to the ERM Multiclock, a highly accurate MIDI, DIN, and pulse clock connected via the computer's audio output for minimal jitter.
• Audio recordings of 4 bars of rimshots were made at various quantization and shuffle settings per machine.
• Recorded audio was analyzed to determine the exact position of each 16th note relative to the grid.
• The data was converted into 4 bar .AGR (Ableton) and MIDI groove files.
