Summary
NeuralRack is a software tool for Linux and Windows that loads neural amp models and impulse response files for guitar effects emulation. It supports several file formats and provides a simple effect chain including pedal, EQ, amplifier, and stereo cabinet.
Features
- Loads A1/A2 *.nam files and *.json or .aidax files via the NeuralAudio engine.
- Impulse response convolution using FFTConvolver.
- Resampling handled by Libzita-resampler to match sample rates of models and IR files.
- Emulates a guitar effect chain with pedal, EQ (movable pre/post), amplifier, and stereo cabinet.
- Supports running one model or full processing in buffered mode to reduce DSP load with latency compensation reported to the host.
- Impulse response loader supports stereo mode (one IR file per channel with individual gain) and mix mode (two IRs mixed into dual-channel mono with mix and master gain controls).
- Ability to load NAM files as outboard profiles within the IR loader.
Platform and Deployment
Available for Linux and Windows. It can be built as standalone application and as plugins in various formats including LV2, Clap, VST2, and VST3.
Build and Dependencies
- Requires libsndfile, libcairo, libx11, lv2 libraries.
- Optional dependencies for standalone version include JACK, ALSA, and PortAudio (with PortAudio relevant for Windows).
