Overview
FlavourMTC is a mixbus tone control plugin inspired by classic "passive" equalizer designs. It uses first-order shelving filters and a dedicated amplifier stage to provide transparent frequency adjustments with an added characteristic "box tone" from the amplifier. The plugin incorporates zero delay filtering and internal oversampling for high audio fidelity.
Technical Approach
Unlike many EQ circuits that amplify within the equalizer circuit itself, FlavourMTC keeps the EQ stage passive, relying on a dedicated amplifier stage for signal amplification. This design minimizes unwanted resonances and avoids curve warping near the Nyquist frequency, preserving signal transparency. The output amplifier stage can be calibrated to specific mix levels to unify the sound and add coloration.
